The revitalization of Ajax's Downtown district into a vibrant "place" that attracts interest and investment, and welcomes residents, businesses and visitors, has long been a priority for this and past terms of Council. In 2005, the district was designated a Community Improvement Plan area, giving the Town the authority to offer incentives to stimulate (re)development in the area. The CIP gives the Town the ability to offer financial assistance to encourage and support the (re)development of lands and take a leading role as a direct participant in Downtown improvement initiatives. With these tools in hand, revitalization is within reach.
