Code of Conduct - Town of Ajax

Council Code of Conduct

In October 2015, Council passed By-law 87-2015 to establish a strengthened Code of Conduct for Members of Council. The Code of Conduct helps to ensure that members of Council share a common basis of acceptable conduct, and provides a supplement to the legislative parameters within which members must operate. A Code of Conduct helps to demonstrate a greater degree of accountable, transparent, and ethical decision making, and acts as a tool to increase public trust and clarify ethical standards.

For more information or questions related to the Council Code of Conduct, or to make a written submission, please contact Nicole Cooper, Clerk, at 905-619-2529 ext. 3336.

Other Accountability Mechanisms

In addition to Council's Code of Conduct, Ajax Council has implemented several other practices to promote accountability and transparency:

  • Customer Feedback Commitment
    • Residents, business owners, visitors and staff have the ability to provide their feedback to us by fax, mail, e-mail, phone, in person or online.
    • If an individual feels that a complaint or concern has not been adequately resolved by the Town, they may contact the Office of the Ombudsman of Ontario for further recourse. The Provincial Ombudsman's Office serves as the Ombudsman for the Town of Ajax.
