Emergency Calls After Hours

Outside regular office hours, Ajax Animal Services continues to provide 24 hour service for emergencies.  Between the hours of 7:00pm and 8:30am Monday to Friday, 4:00pm and 8:30am on Saturday and Sundays and all day on Holidays, staff will only respond to emergency calls.
Ajax Animal Services strives to maintain this level of service, however, occasionally due to unforeseen circumstances, the start time of our emergency callouts may begin earlier. During these times any non-emergencies may be reported on voicemail to be responded to the next business day.

Emergency calls may include

An injured animal that requires immediate medical attention, an animal carcass on the roadway that poses an imminent hazard to motorists, a request from Durham Regional Police for assistance, an aggressive dog that is at large or a dog that has bitten or attacked a person or another animal or a situation that may threaten public safety.

Non-emergency calls may include

A dog or cat at large, a barking dog, a carcass on the roadway that is not creating an imminent hazard to motorists, a stray dog or cat that the complainant has taken control of, a dog or cat that has not been licensed or dog or cat excrement that is not being removed by an owner.
