Road Occupancy Permits

Overview

Road Occupancy Permits are required for all residents, businesses, contractors, etc. who wish to occupy all or a portion of the road, sidewalk or boulevard to perform work. Using a dumpster or storage bin is also considered as work.

Road Occupancy Permits are also required for the temporary closure of all or a part of a road.

Process

A permit may be obtained by submitting a completed Road Occupancy Permit Application and Road Occupancy Permit Checklist to the Town's Engineering Section.

Applications for the temporary closure of a road must be at least 15 days prior to the date of the road closure. Applications for all other purposes should be applied for at least 7 days prior to the intended date of the occupancy.

Permits for Regional Roads must be approved by the Region of Durham.
