National Tree Day Celebration

Join us in the celebration and appreciation of the great benefits that trees provide us - clean air, wildlife habitat, energy conservation and a beautiful Town.

Experts from Local Enhancement and Appreciation of Forests (LEAF), Toronto and Region Conservation and the Town of Ajax will help you to:

  • Identify different tree species in your neighbourhood
  • Assess for a suitable site when planting a new tree
  • Correctly plant a tree
  • Learn more about subsidies being offered for tree planting on your property.

Fall Community Tree Planting

Sunday October 2nd
10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Arbour Park (parking at Ajax Town Hall 65 Harwood Ave.)

Highways for Heroes have partnered with Forests Ontario to implement a large-scale planting program in memorial of our fallen troops. They are working to plant 117,000 trees along the 401 Highway for Heroes corridor from Toronto-Trenton. One tree, for every fallen soldier that has travelled along this route.

We are seeking volunteers to help plant trees along the 401 adjacent Achilles Greenbelt and Arbour Park to help create awareness of this initiative.

Trees, shovels, and gloves and refreshments will be provided. This event is eligible for high school volunteer hours

This event is suitable for all ages and will take place rain or shine!

Electric Vehicle (EV) Car Show

Saturday March 12th 2016
Ajax Town Hall, 65 Harwood South

Join us for Ajax's first Electric Vehicle (EV) Roadshow on Saturday, March 12th 2016 This event is presented in partnership with Plug' n Drive and Windfall Ecology Centre. Visitors will be able to ride and drive electric vehicles, see EV charging demonstrations, learn about environmental initiatives, and find out more about electric vehicle charging locations. Coffee is being generously supplied by Debbie's Cafe.

Earth Hour

Earth Hour is an annual international lights-out event organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) that takes place on March 28th. For more information on this years event please visit


Compost Giveaway, E Waste & Hazardous Waste Collection

Each spring, the Region of Durham and the Town of Ajax offers free compost to residents as a thank you for diverting source separated organics and leaf and yard waste from landfill. This year we will also be collecting electronic waste and household hazardous waste free of charge. For more information please visit

Ajax Green Living Days

The Town of Ajax holds Ajax Green Living Days every April as a multi-day event to celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd and to help promote environmental awareness.  Ajax Green Living Days has a variety of events for the whole family.


Pollinator Garden Maintenance Session

Wednesday May 11th
St Andrews Park (46 Exeter Rd, Ajax)
4.30-7 p.m.

Come out and help learn how to identify native plants and invasive species during this hands on session, whilst helping to maintain Ajax's pollinator habitat by helping us plant, weed and mulch!

  • Gloves, tools and, and snacks will be provided.
  • High school students will receive volunteer hours for their time

Ajax in Bloom

Ajax in Bloom is a celebration of civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification through community participation with consideration to the promotion of green spaces throughout the town.  Each Spring, residents, businesses, and schools are invited to nominate what they believe will become the best gardens in Town.

Tree Tenders

Cost: $50 / $75 (+HST) with ISA Citizen Arborist Manual (recommended).

LEARN the basics of trees from expert instructors, CONNECT with other tree lovers, and BE INSPIRED to become an urban forest leader in your community! Lead by LEAF in partnership with Town of Ajax, t his multi-day course will give you a solid understanding of how trees function and what they need to survive and thrive. You'll learn about the benefits of urban trees and the challenges they face.

Love Your Lake is an Ontario-wide initiative being led by A Greener Future. The goal is to clean the entire shoreline of Lake Ontario over the cpurse of the summer. Volunteers are needed to help clean four locations along the Ajax waterfront. Bags and gloves will be provided and high school volunteer hours can be gained from particpation.
