We are seeking volunteers to help increase Ajax's forest canopy. Trees, shovels, and gloves and refreshments will be provided. This event is eligible for high school volunteer hours

This event is suitable for all ages and will take place rain or shine!

Invasive Species Awareness Week- SEMINAR

In recognition of Invasive Species Awareness week we are hosting a FREE workshop . Experts from the Ontario Invasive Plant Council and the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters will help you to identify and reduce invasive species on your property and within the community.

Each March, the Town of Ajax celebrates "Water" as part of the national Canada Water Week. This year join us for a FREE movie screening of the documentary titles "Lost Rivers" followed by a question answers from the film makers themselves Andrew Emond and Krystyn Tully.

The Town of Ajax holds Ajax Green Living Days every April as a multi-day event to celebrate Earth Day (April 22nd) and to help promote environmental awareness. Ajax Green Living Days has a variety of events for the whole family.

Events for 2017 include:

  • Friday, April 21, 2017- 20 Minute Makeover 
  • Saturday, April 22, 2017- Community Tree Planting
  • Sunday, April 23, 2017- Ajax Meadow Maintenance Workshop

Compost Giveaway & Electronic Waste Collection

Each spring, the Region of Durham and the Town of Ajax offers free compost to residents as a thank you for diverting source separated organics and leaf and yard waste from landfill. Maintaining Pollinator Habitat- Workshop

Come out and help learn how to identify native plants and invasive species during this hands on session, whilst helping to maintain Ajax's pollinator habitat by helping us plant, weed and mulch!

  • Gloves, tools and, and snacks will be provided.
  • High school students will receive volunteer hours for their time

Ajax in Bloom

June 1st-30th

Ajax in Bloom is a celebration of civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification through community participation with consideration to the promotion of green spaces throughout the town. Each Spring, residents, businesses, and schools are invited to nominate what they believe will become the best gardens in Town.

Electric Vehicle (EV) Car Show

Date: June 24th 
Location:Audley Recreation Centre
10 a.m.-3p.m.

Join us for Ajax's second Electric Vehicle (EV) Roadshow on Saturday, MVisitors will be able to ride and drive electric vehicles, see EV charging demonstrations, learn about environmental initiatives, and find out more about electric vehicle charging locations.

*please note: parking is limited so please consider taking transit or carpooling!

Love Your Lake- Community Cleanup

Date: TBD

Love Your Lake is an Ontario-wide initiative being led by A Greener Future. The goal is to clean the entire shoreline of Lake Ontario over the cpurse of the summer. Volunteers are needed to help clean four locations along the Ajax waterfront. Bags and gloves will be provided and high school volunteer hours can be gained from particpation.
