Greenwood Discovery Pavilion

This 1,370 square foot pavilion has been designed as a one-storey accessible building that architecturally reflects a country style building and incorporates exterior finishes that have both wood and stone finishes. Whether you are using the facility as a rest-stop or booking it for a private function, the state-of-the-art pavilion is a functional space for residents, visitors, and trail and nature enthusiasts.  The facility is located at 2290 Greenwood Rd.

LEED Elements

It is not a LEED-registered building, but the Greenwood Pavilion has many "green" initiatives incorporated into the facility to make it healthier for the user, energy efficient and sustainable, therefore reducing operating and maintenance costs for the Town. The pavilion has the following green features:

  • Low E, argon filled windows
  • photovoltaic rooftop solar panels (2kW)
  • upgraded insulation
  • wood products are FSC-certified (Forest Stewardship Council)
  • geothermal heating and cooling
  • occupancy sensors on interior lights
  • energy efficient interior and exterior lighting
  • collection of roof water by an above-ground cistern
  • low flow or waterless water closets/fixtures
  • use of grey water in toilets
  • low-VOC or no-VOC paint and finishes
  • solar thermal heating for hot water
