Annual Accessibility Plan

The Ontarians with Disabilities Act (ODA), 2001 and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), 2005, requires all municipalities in Ontario to prepare an annual Accessibility Plan and make it available to the public. With the assistance of the Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC), the Town of Ajax has developed its 2011 Accessibility Plan.

The Town remains committed to its goal of ensuring that all facilities, programs and services are available to everyone wishing to access them. Development of the Annual Accessibility Plan works towards the prevention, identification and removal of barriers that restrict opportunities for people with disabilities. The Accessibility Plan identifies achievements and initiatives in the following areas:

  • Built Environment
  • Service Delivery
  • Information & Communications
  • Policy & Procedure

Detailed information for all of these key areas is identified within the 2011 Town of Ajax Accessibility Plan document.

As required by the AODA Integrated Accessibility Regulation, future accessibility forecasting will shift to multi-year planning and annual reporting.
