Each year, a local student is awarded the opportunity to be the Ajax Fire Chief for a Day. Here are some pictures from this year's Fire Chief at work!

Chief Amanda suits up in bunker gear 

Ajax Fire and Emergency Services declares the 2016 Fire Chief for a Day winner to be Amanda V, a student from St. André Bessette Catholic School.

Chief  Amanda's entry was selected from over 430 submissions!

Before she heads out for her busy day, Chief Amanda gets suited up in her new set of bunker gear.

Chief Amanda conducts a fire drill with the students of St. André Bessette Catholic School, with Sparky and Ajax Fire Prevention Inspector Chamberlain and Fire Prevention Inspector Hribar.

Chief Amanda is anxious to carry out her new role in the community.  Training Officer Smith escorts Chief Amanda to Fire Headquarters in Pump 44.

AFES partners with McDonald's and Canadian Tire Ajax for the Fire Chief for the Day contest. Chief Amanda meets with Jim Siddall from McDonald's Ajax and is presented with a prize package and dinner for her family.  After receiving a brand new bicycle, courtesy of Canadian Tire, it's back to work!
