Fire Safety House

Fire Safety Trailer

The Fire Safety House is a trailer that is set up inside like a home.  It can be brought to events, schools, etc., or used at our fire stations to teach children about fire safety.

Children are provided with realistic fire safety training including recognizing the sound of the smoke alarm, crawl low under smoke and being taught to "Get Out And Stay Out" in the event of a fire.

For information on the Fire Safety House, or to request the use of the trailer for a community event - click here

Hazard House

The Hazard House is an innovative and riveting teaching aid for our safety conscious community, which allows audience participation in transforming the house from hazardous to safe through the use of 3D parts, flips, tokens, and stick-on illustrations.

 Hazard Kitchen

The Hazard Kitchen is an interactive tool that is used to deliver home and kitchen fire safety messages to teenagers, adults and seniors in the community. Poor cooking habits are the number one cause of fires in Ajax. The Hazard Kitchen is used to educate and change residents behaviors, which will reduce the number of fires in our community.

Fire Truck Attends and "Sparky" for Special Events

Whenever possible, a fire truck staffed with a crew of fire fighters may be scheduled to attend special community events (i.e. parades, fun fairs and sports tournaments).  Our fire fighters are excellent information resources, since their work gives them first-hand experience with the causes and consequences of fire.  They are always willing to share their knowledge of fire safety, provide related printed material and demonstrate the tools and equipment they use.

To request a Fire Truck to attend your event, or to book a Fire Station tour - click here.

We can also arrange a visit by Sparky, our costumed character mascot.  If your group is having a special event, let us know and we will try to get a truck and Sparky to your event!

For more information on Sparky, check out his website.

Station Tours

AFES crews are happy to provide stations tours at any of our 3 Fire Stations in Ajax.  Meet some Firefighters, learn about home safety, get a close-up look at the equipment and vehicles they use, and find out how they keep our community safe!
