Fire Stations

Ajax Fire and Emergency operates from three fire stations.  All Ajax fire stations are staffed 24 hours per day, seven days per week by on-duty emergency response crews. Due to a new Regional Interoperable radio system, Ajax Fire apparatus is designated as #4.

Station #1

Located at 40 Westney Road North (just north of Highway #2), Station #1 houses one on-duty emergency response crew and is home to Pump 45 and Pump 46.

Station #2

Station #2 is located at 435 Monarch Avenue and houses one on-duty emergency response crew.  This station also serves as the alternate Emergency Operations Centre for the Town of Ajax.  Station #2 is home to:

  • Aerial 41
  • Rescue 43
  • Pump 44 and Pump 410 

Headquarters

Located at 900 Salem Road North, this state-of-the-art facility houses:

  • two on-duty emergency response crews
  • on-duty Platoon Chief
  • Administration
  • Fire Prevention
  • Training
  • Communications
  • Emergency Operations Centre  

This LEED certified, environmentally friendly building is testament to Council's commitment to environmental leadership and responsibility.  The AFES Headquarters Fire Station opened on June 17, 2008.

  • staff and support vehicles assigned to the Fire Prevention, Training and Administration Divisions.

Also located at 900 Salem Road North is our live-fire training facility.  This state-of-the-art training facility includes propane fired live-fire simulator systems and environmentally friendly artificial smoke systems.

Aerial Four-One

Aerial 1

Aerial One is a 23 metre (75 foot) Aerial Ladder built on a Spartan Gladiator tandem axle chassis.  Delivered in 2000, Aerial One was supplied by Safetek Emergency Vehicles and was built by Smeal Fire Apparatus.  It features a 7000 litre per minute Hale fire pump with automatic foam system, PTO-driven generator and a command light tower.

Aerial Two is a 32 metre (105 foot) Aerial Ladder built on a Spartan Gladiator tandem axle chassis.   Delivered in 2006, Aerial Two was supplied by Safetek Emergency Vehicles and was built by Smeal Fire Apparatus.  It features a 7000 litre per minute Hale fire pump with automatic foam system, PTO-driven 15,000 watt generator and a command light tower.  Aerial Two is capable of discharging over 4500 litres of water per minute from the master stream on the aerial ladder. 

Rescue Four-Three

Rescue Three is a custom Special Operations truck that is built on an International 4900, four door, single axle chassis.  Delivered in 1999, Rescue Three was supplied by Safetek Emergency Vehicles and was built by SVI Trucks.  Rescue Three contains various special operations equipment including rehabilitation supplies and additional ice/water rescue equipment.  A large Command Light Tower is located on the top of the truck, enabling crews to light emergency scenes during night operations.  This truck also contains a mobile breathing air filling station to allow for the filling of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) cylinders on an emergency scene and a large PTO-driven generator.

Pump Four is a custom pumper-rescue that is built on a Spartan Metro-Star single axle chassis.  Delivered in 2002, Pump Four was supplied by Safetek Emergency Vehicles and was built by Smeal Fire Apparatus and SVI Trucks.  It features a 7000 litre per minute Hale pump with class "A" and "B" foam proportioning system, onboard hydraulic generator, full heavy hydraulic rescue tool system and a command light tower.  This custom apparatus was designed and built to offer superior performance at all types of emergency scenes including fire, medical and rescue situations.

It features a 7000 litre per minute Hale pump with a class "A' and "B" foam proportioning system, an onboard generator, full heavy hydraulic recue tool system and a command light tower. This custom apparatus was designed and built to offer superior performance at all types of emergency scenes including fire, medical and rescue situations.

Tanker Four-Eight

Pumper-Tanker four-eight is a custom pumper-tanker that is built on a Spartan Gladiator tandem axle chassis. Delivered in 2014, Pumper-tanker four-eight was supplied by Safetech Emergency Vehicles and was built by Smeal Fire Apparatus. It features a 7000 litre per minute Hale pump with 8400 litres of water. This custom apparatus was designed and built as both a full fire pumper and a full fire tanker to offer superior performance at all types of emergency scenes including fire and medical situations.

Pump Nine is built on a Spartan Metro-Star single axle chassis.  Delivered in 2005, Pump nine was supplied by Safetek Emergency Vehicles and was built by Smeal Fire Apparatus and SVI Trucks.  It features a 7000 litre per minute Hale pump with class "A" and "B" foam proportioning system, onboard hydraulic generator, full heavy hydraulic rescue tool system and a command light tower.  This custom apparatus was designed and built to offer superior performance at all types of emergency scenes including fire, medical and rescue situations.

Pump Ten is built on a Spartan Metro-Star single axle chassis.  Placed into service in November 2007, Pump ten was supplied by Safetek Emergency Vehicles and was built by Smeal Fire Apparatus and SVI Trucks.  It features a 7000 litre per minute Hale pump with class "A" and "B" foam proportioning system, onboard hydraulic generator, full heavy hydraulic rescue tool system and a command light tower.  This custom apparatus was designed and built to offer superior performance at all types of emergency scenes including fire, medical and rescue situations.  

Car Four-Five

Car four-five is a custom command vehicle that is built on a 2012 Tahoe SUV Police Duty chassis. This car was up-fitted with lights and configured to ensure the highest level of safety.

The vehicle features a mobile incident command workstation, Harris P25 phase two 700Mhz radio system, computer based incident management system and mobile personnel accountability system resources.  It also contains a mobile radio repeater system which provides for enhanced radio communications on emergency scenes.

Fire and Emergency Services proudly placed the first hybrid sedan into service in April, 2008.  In addition to being part of the Town of Ajax's Green Fleet Initiative, the graphics package on the car includes some important fire safety messages.
