The Open House will provide information on the Traffic Safety Plan for this project. Safety measure will include signage, pavement markings, traffic calming measures, parking restrictions, designated crossing areas, facility connections, separate cycling path, etc.

Residents are encouraged to attend the open house. If you cannot attend, you are welcome to bring comments, issues and suggestions to the attention of the Town or Consultant. All information presented at the open house will be posted on the Town's website for review at http://www.ajax.ca/en/doingbusinessinajax/Lakeview-Boulevard-Improvements.asp.

Project Background

The Town of Ajax completed a Schedule ‘B’ Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study for improvements related to Lakeview Boulevard in April 2017. The recommended alignment includes:

  • A single roadway approximately 10m south of the existing upper alignment to increase the distance from play areas
  • A narrower roadway to promote traffic calming
  • A posted speed limit of 30 km/hr for traffic calming and pedestrian safety

A Project File Report (PFR) was prepared to document the study process and conclusions. A copy of PFR is available on the Town’s website.

A Part II Order request asking the Town to prepare an individual environmental assessment for this Project was reviewed by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. The Minister concluded that an individual environmental assessment was not required for this project but did request that the Town address some concerns regarding public safety. A copy of Minister’s response letter to this Part II Order request is available on the Town’s website noted above.
