The Town of Ajax welcomed film productions throughout 2025, supporting creative activity while generating economic benefits for the local community. Film permits issued this year contributed to non-tax revenue for the Town and helped support employment opportunities for local crew members and actors.

Filming activity in Ajax provides a range of benefits beyond direct revenue, including job creation, increased spending at local businesses, and exposure that can lead to film-related tourism. Productions filmed across a variety of locations, showcasing Ajax’s versatility and appeal as a filming backdrop.

In addition to supporting productions on set, the Ajax Film Office participated in the planning of The Way Home Film Tour in collaboration with Durham Film Liaisons at the Ajax Waterfront. The Way Home, which has filmed in Ajax on multiple occasions, welcomed fans of the show to experience the locations where cast and crew spent their filming days.

The tour offered attendees a behind-the-scenes look at the production process, with staff sharing insider stories about working with the production company and the collaborative efforts that help bring filming to life in Ajax. The event celebrated the connection between film, location, and community, while showcasing the Town’s waterfront as both a filming location and a destination for residents and visitors alike.

Ajax’s Film Office worked closely with production teams to support filming activity and ensure a smooth and coordinated process for residents, businesses, and crews.   • The Town has a dedicated staff to assist with location selection support and permitting logistics.
  • Ajax is in the Ontario ACTRA Zone. Eligible productions have access to potential Ontario Film and Television Tax credit of 35%of labour expenditures. An enhanced credit rate of 40% on the first $240,000 of qualifying labour expenditure is available for first-time producers.
  • Residents and businesses can list their property as a film location by visiting OntarioCreates.ca. Properties listed on Ontario Creates’ Location Library will be accessible to only production companies that have a registered account.
