Date: Monday, June 22, 2015

Time: 6:15 p.m.

About the Monarch Artificial Turf Soccer Fields

- The $3.5 million project was initiated to accommodate the President’s Choice Ajax Pan Am Ballpark for the 2015 Pan Am Games.

- The project was jointly funded by the Town and TO2015.

- The two fields are 64-metres (70-yards) wide and 100-metres (109-yards) long and meet FIFA’s international standards.

- The fields will be FIFA certified, which will allow for international matches and attract high level soccer clubs to play in Ajax.

- To protect the turf, an eight-foot (2.4-metre) fence has been installed around the fields, with a 20-foot (six-metre) section behind the nets.

- The newly-installed drainage system allows the fields to drain in seconds after a rainfall.

- The new fields allow for an extended playing season into November. Currently, the Town closes its natural fields in September.
