Ajax Fire and Emergency Services are raising awareness about fire safety with the Get Real Ajax campaign. The campaign runs from September 25 to October 30 and focuses on educating residents about fire safety and fire-related problems in their communities.

During the campaign, selected households will receive a Get Real Ajax information card in the mail and a door-to-door visit from Ajax firefighters to discuss the reality of fires in the community.

Residents will also be able to follow Get Real Ajax fire safety tweets and videos on the Town’s social media pages and Ajax Fire’s Twitter (@ajax_fire) account and interact with us by using the hashtag #GetRealAjax.

Through education, awareness and teamwork, Ajax Fire and Emergency Services’ goal is to prevent fire-related fatalities, injuries and property damage across the Town.

Quote

“Ajax Fire and Emergency Services will visit 1,000 homes this fall. This year, we are reminding residents that when it’s time to change your smoke alarms (every 10 years), they must replace with the same type of alarm. For example, if their alarm has a visual indicator/strobe, they must replace with a new smoke alarm that has a visual indicator/strobe. The Get Real Ajax campaign is an excellent opportunity for our firefighters to interact with our residents and answer any questions that they have regarding fire safety and prevention.” - Shelley Langer, Fire Prevention Inspector, Ajax Fire and Emergency Services
