Picnic Areas and Shelters

Enjoy the outdoors with family and friends at our designated picnic areas equipped with shelters and tables for a delightful experience.  Residents and visitors can enjoy these amenities along our waterfront or within the serenity of our conservation areas at the following locations:

  • Rotary Park Waterfront
  • Paulynn Park
  • Greenwood Conservation Area

Sports Fields

Engage in organized sports or enjoy a friendly game at our well-maintained baseball diamonds across the Town.  The following locations offer an opportunity for residents to gather and enjoy a game on a lovely sun filled day.

Transfer Policy

A rental date, time or location may be transferred once per permit to another date, time or location based on availability and at a cost of $11.50 + HST Administrative Fee, with 21 days written notice. Transfers must be booked within a calendar year from the original date booked. The difference in fees due to the transfer, if any, will either be charged or refunded.
Greenwood Conservation Area

Greenwood offers you a chance to escape to nature along the banks of Duffin’s Creek.  Hiking trails allow you to explore the forest or the steep sided river valley.  The cold, clear running creek is a perfect home for rainbow trout and other species of fish.  Fishing licences are required. 

Greenwood Conservation Area is owned by the Toronto Conservation Authority but is maintained and operated by the Town of Ajax. Bring your family for an afternoon picnic or reserve a picnic site for your company or social club.  Picnic shelters, tables and washroom facilities are available.  

Other activities available at Greenwood include nature trails, walking paths, play structures, cross country skiing and leash free area. 

The park is open for rentals between May and September between the hours of 9am and 6pm. The park closes for the season the last week of September

Greenwood Conservation Area - Birchview Picnic Site
  • Birchview Shelter is a rentable space within the Greenwood Conservation Area for up to 99 people.
  • The site comes with 8 – 10 picnic tables
  • This shelter is within walking distance to accessible washrooms, has hydro and access to a playground.
  • It is located on open space with some shade
  • BBQ (Propane Only) is only allowed with a valid rental permit
Greenwood Conservation Area - Glenview 1 Picnic Site
  • This shelter is a rentable space within the Greenwood Conservation Area for up to 99 people.
  • The site comes with 8 – 10 picnic tables
  • This shelter is within walking distance to accessible washrooms, has hydro and is within walking distance to a playground.
  • It is located on a slope with some shade
  • BBQ (Propane Only) is only allowed with a valid rental permit
Greenwood Conservation Area - Glenview 2 Picnic Site
  • This shelter is a rentable space within the Greenwood Conservation Area for up to 99 people.
  • The site comes with 8 – 10 picnic tables
  • This shelter is within walking distance to accessible washrooms, has hydro and is within walking distance to a playground.
  • It is located on a slope with some shade
  • BBQ (Propane Only) is only allowed with a valid rental permit
Paulynn Park

A lovely natural park in with a creek running through it, plus a playground, hiking trails, fishing areas, and picnic shelters.

The park is open for rentals between May and September between the hours of 9am and 6pm. The park closes for the season the last week of September

Paulynn Park - Shelter 1 Picnic Site
  • This shelter a rentable space at Paulynn Park accommodating up to 30 people. 
  • It is within walking distance of a washroom and playground.
  • The site comes with 8 – 10 picnic tables
  • It is located on a slope with some shade
  • BBQs (Propane Only) are permitted with a valid rental permit. 
  • This shelter location DOES NOT have hydro.
Paulynn Park - Shelter 2 Picnic Site
  • This shelter a rentable space at Paulynn Park accommodating up to 30 people. 
  • It is within walking distance of a washroom and playground.
  • The site comes with 8 – 10 picnic tables
  • It is located on open area with some shade
  • BBQs (Propane Only) are permitted with a valid rental permit. 
  • This shelter location does have hydro.
Rotary Park

The Rotary Park in Ajax is located at the mouth of Duffin’s Creek. It’s a major part of the Waterfront Trail that runs through Ajax. The park is child and senior friendly that is fully accessible and has a splash pad! The park also has a 3,800 sq foot pavilion that has washroom facilities, meeting rooms and a concession stand.

Rotary Park also has a beachfront area, you can fish along the banks of Lake Ontario, or launch a small boat to explore the creek by kayak or canoe.

The park is open for rentals between May and September between the hours of 9am and 6pm. The park closes for the season the last week of September

Rotary Park - Lion's Point Shelter
  • Lions Point Shelter is located at Rotary Park along the Ajax Waterfront. 
  • This shelter is within walking distance (300 meters) to an accessible washroom, snack bar, playground and splashpad facilities.
  • The site comes with 4 picnic tables and can accommodate up to 30 people
  • It is located on open area with some shade
  • BBQs (Propane Only) are allowed with a valid rental permit.
  • This location does not have hydro
Rotary Park - Maples Picnic Area
  • The Maples picnic area is located at Rotary Park along the Ajax Waterfront. 
  • This shelter is within walking distance to an accessible washroom, snack bar, playground and splashpad facilities.
  • The site comes with 4 picnic tables and can accommodate up to 30 people
  • It is located on open area with no shade
  • BBQs (Propane Only) are allowed with a valid rental permit.
  • This location does not have hydro
Rotary Park - The Pinery Picnic Area
  • The Pinery picnic area is located at Rotary Park along the Ajax Waterfront. 
  • This shelter is within walking distance to an accessible washroom, snack bar, playground and splashpad facilities.
  • The site comes with 4 picnic tables and can accommodate up to 30 people
  • It is located on open area with no shade
  • BBQs (Propane Only) are allowed with a valid rental permit.
  • This location does not have hydro

  • The Oaks picnic area is located at Rotary Park along the Ajax Waterfront. 
  • This shelter is within walking distance to an accessible washroom, snack bar, playground and splashpad facilities.

Baseball Diamonds

The Town of Ajax offers an opportunity for community members, groups and teams to book baseball diamonds for game play and practices.

Baseball diamonds are open for rentals between May and September between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
