The Town is competing against Durham municipalities to see who can collect the MOST non-perishable food donations for Feed the Need Durham by September 17, 2019. 

The friendly competition between municipalities was initiated by the Town of Whitby. The goal is to help more than 6,000 people (38% children) get proper nutrition via food banks, soup kitchens and food programs each month. 

Residents, businesses, community groups and organizations are encouraged to drop-off non-perishable food items at four convenient locations: 

  • Ajax Town Hall (65 Harwood Ave. S.)
  • Ajax Fire Stations* (900 Salem Rd. N., 40 Westney Rd. N., 435 Monarch Ave.)
  • Ajax Library* (Main Branch, 55 Harwood Ave. S. or McLean Branch, 95 Magill Ave.)

The Durham Region municipality that collects the most non-perishable food donations (by weight) by September 17, 2019 gets bragging rights for the year.

Feed the Need Durham collects, stores, and distributes 1.5 million pounds of food annually to 57 emergency food providers and 5 school nutrition programs across Durham Region.
