Donations accepted until September 29!

This September, the Town of Ajax and other Durham Region municipalities are taking a bite out of hunger by competing in a challenge to see who can collect the most non-perishable food donations for Feed the Need Durham.

Hunger is a significant issue that impacts many residents and their families across Durham. By everyone coming together this National Hunger Action Month, the Town and its neighbouring municipalities can help spread awareness on this important cause and alleviate the pressure and stress on those in need.

In 2019, the Region and area municipalities collectively raised more than 68,000 meals. This year’s goal is to surpass that record to ensure food banks, shelters, soup kitchens and other food programs have even more food to provide to people in the community.

Residents, businesses, community groups and organizations are encouraged to participate by dropping off non-perishable food items at four convenient locations:

  • Ajax Town Hall (65 Harwood Avenue South)
  • *McLean Community Centre (95 Magill Drive)
  • *Ajax Community Centre (75 Centennial Road)
  • *Audley Recreation Centre (1955 Audley Road North)

*Weekend drop available

The Final Results

“September is National Hunger Action Month. Food donations will be distributed to food banks, shelters, meal programs, in-school nutritional programs and other social services agencies across Durham to alleviate hunger this fall and support those in need in our community. Our staff are excited to participate in this challenge and I’m very proud to be part of such a kind, empathetic and community focused team. I look forward to seeing what they can accomplish as we work together with our neighbouring municipalities and communities to surpass the last amount of food raised.
