The Town of Ajax is utilizing in-ground collection containers (Dog Waste Pods) to collect dog waste below the ground surface. The program aligns with the Town’s commitment to sustainability by increasing waste diversion rates and implementing projects that help create a cleaner and greener future for Ajax. 

How to use the Dog Waste Pods
  • Place your dog’s bagged waste into the slot on the container. Do not place anything other than bagged dog waste into the container. No special bags are required when disposing of dog waste in the container.

  • The Town’s contractor Sutera, Inc. will frequently empty the container and transport the contents to its energy production facility. 

  • The dog waste is then transformed into energy.

  • Promote the peaceful coexistence of humans, their pets and wildlife. 

  • Prioritize public health and safety.  

  • Increase waste diversion rates. 

  • Keep the air smelling fresh. 

  • Decrease service level needs in parks.

There are currently 16 in-ground dog waste recycling containers installed in parks and trails across Ajax’s three wards.

  • Joe Dickson Park Leash-Free Dog Park – 40 Turnerbury Avenue 

  • Westgate Pavilion (Carruthers Creek Trail) – 51 Westgate Avenue at Pickett Street 

  • Porte Trail at Porte Road North Parkette – Porte Road/Beer Crescent/1 Enderly Street

Pup Poop Pick Up Challenge

The summer challenge has ended! Thank you to everyone who participated in the Pup Poop Pick Up Challenge. Winners will be selected and contacted in the coming weeks for their prizes. 

Just because the challenge has ended, doesn't mean you can't participate in the program! Continue utilizing the Dog Waste Pods while walking your dog and help keep Ajax paws-itively clean.
