Council Recognition

The Town of Ajax is proud to recognize individuals, teams, businesses, and organizations whose achievements, milestones, and contributions enhance our community and inspire civic pride. Through the Council Recognition Program, residents and organizations may request formal acknowledgement from Council to celebrate meaningful occasions and raise awareness of important causes.

Recognition requests may be submitted for the following:

  • Flag Raisings and Proclamations to observe significant events, causes, or awareness initiatives
  • Congratulatory Recognition, including:
    • Birthdays and anniversaries
    • Civic contributions
    • Business milestones (e.g. Grand Opening)
    • Sports and academic achievements

Each type of recognition has specific eligibility criteria and guidelines. Applicants are encouraged to review the requirements carefully before submitting a request. Links to the appropriate request forms are provided on this page.

Important Guidelines

  • Requests must be submitted a minimum of four (4) weeks in advance of the requested recognition date.
  • Only one event or recognition request may be submitted per form.
  • Only one recognition (congratulatory certificate, flag raising, proclamation, or special achievement certificate) will be issued per individual, group, team, or organization within a calendar year.
  • Corporate Services staff will review all submissions and will notify applicants within one week of receiving the request whether it has been approved or declined.
  • For the health and well-being of patrons, staff, and members of Council, all Town of Ajax facilities are scent‑free.

Council Recognition is issued at the discretion of the Town and in accordance with applicable policies. Submission of a request does not guarantee approval.
