During and after a snow storm, the Town of Ajax has the responsibility of maintaining 370 km of road, 150 km of sidewalks, trails and emergency access road, 27 parking lots and 53 school crossings, all in an effort to provide efficient and effective snow clearing services to ensure the safety of the traveling public.

Snow removal for seniors and qualified residents

Requirements for the program

  • Residents 65 years of age or older
  • nobody under the age of 65 living with you;
  • unable to do the work due to a physical disability, as indicated by a doctor's note

PLEASE NOTE: Snow removal services will begin seven days after your application has been processed.

Winter reminders

  • On-street Parking - on-street parking during a snow event is not allowed at any time of the day or night. If you park on the street during a snow event, your vehicle will be ticketed and may be towed.
  • Sidewalks - residents are responsible for removing ice and snow from sidewalks fronting or beside their homes within a 24 hours after a snowfall.
  • Windrows - the Town of Ajax does not remove snow from the end of driveways.
  • Super Mailboxes - the Town of Ajax does not perform snow removal operations around super mailboxes. Please contact Canada Post at www.canadapost.ca or by phone at 1-800-267-1177 for snow removal in this area.
