The Town continues to take further action to reduce Covid vaccine hesitancy amongst seniors with Live w/ Mayor Talks. The educational sessions are being delivered throughout the month of April and focus on the Covid vaccine rollout, special Town updates (Age-Friendly Community plan, 55+ activities and Recreation Master Plan) and interactive Q&A.

With a potential to reach 300 seniors, the sessions kicked off this week with the Ajax Rotary Club and continued with the Ajax Friendship and Pickering Village Seniors Clubs. The talks will conclude at the end of the month with the PROBUS Club of Ajax and Durham West PROBUS Club.

Quotes

“The Town of Ajax is committed to sharing timely, relevant information with our residents. Covid-19 response information is updated frequently, which can result in key information being missed. Our goal with this series is ensuring our seniors are armed with up-to-date information, correcting the misinformation that contributes to vaccine hesitancy, and answering questions. Partnerships with trusted local organizations like Ajax Rotary Club allow us to create a safe space for open communication. I am looking forward to more of these events in the future.” – Mayor Shaun Collier

“Ajax Rotary Club was excited to participate in the Town’s information outreach blitz. Vaccines are currently available to our membership, but many have questions or concerns. Through this partnership, we have been able to identify and address barriers to vaccine access and causes of hesitancy, doing our part to support the global vaccination effort to stop the spread of Covid-19 and keep our members healthy.” - Bruce Green, President of Ajax Rotary Club
