Ajax Council has approved the contract for the Exeter Park Retrofit project, which will see various updates and new amenities with construction expected to begin this year. Exeter Park, located south-east of Kings Crescent and Exeter Road, will be retrofitted with a new splashpad, a new playground, a leash-free area, a shade structure, new asphalt paved walkways, a water fountain, a pet waste receptacle, signage, furniture, trees and lighting.

This program aligns with the Town’s commitment to investing in the changing recreational needs of a growing community in Ajax.

  • Exeter Park is an older neighbourhood park located southeast of Kings Crescent and Exeter Road.
  • The park consists of a ball diamond, children’s playground, a wading pool, walkways, furniture, open space and mature trees and is surrounded by a residential community with pedestrian access at three locations. The park is in need of a retrofit as the existing infrastructure has reached its expected service life.
  • Exeter Park will be retrofitted with a new splashpad, a new playground, a leash-free area, a shade structure, new asphalt paved walkways, a water fountain, a pet waste receptacle, signage, furniture, trees and lighting.
  • In collaboration with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, Town staff have also included pollinator gardens, a bioswale and information signage as part of the Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Program (SNAP).
  • A public open house was completed on October 4, 2023, to present the design plans for public review and feedback. As a result of public feedback, revisions to the plans were made that included a re-aligned leash-free area and a design change to the proposed shade structure.
  • This initiative aligns with actions outlined in Action26 – Ajax Council’s Strategic Plan to 2026.
