The Town of Ajax plans to widen the existing Puckrin bridge at Rossland Road between Salem Road and Rushworth Drive as shown in the key map above.

Construction is scheduled to begin Summer 2025 and is scheduled for completion Summer 2026.

Proposed Improvement Works

The scope of work for T25003 Puckrin Bridge Widening is as follows:

  • Widen Puckrin Bridge to the south side including an abutment wall.
  • Construction of new retaining walls on the south side of Puckrin Bridge.
  • New stormsewer and catchbasin on Rossland Road
  • New sidewalk and parapet wall on Puckrin Bridge north side
  • New MUP and sidewalk on Puckrin Bridge south side
  • Slight realignment of MUP access underneath puckrin bridge
  • Site restoration including driveway restoration

Pre-construction work

Prior to construction, the following work will be carried out on Range Line Road and Shoal Point Road:

  • Work crews will mark the locations of underground utilities such as gas, water, and sanitary so the construction work does not interfere with these utilities;
  • Driveway and boulevard area restoration work, and sidewalk construction is expected;
  • Tree pruning and removal;
  • The Town will not be responsible for damage to any privately owned items on Town’s property;
  • Pre-construction condition survey of the exterior, and if permitted by homeowner, interior of homes. Homeowners will receive a request to schedule a time to complete the pre-construction condition survey undertaken by the Town’s hired Contractor. Although participation is voluntary, the pre-construction survey results may be useful to confirm claims for potential damage caused by road construction work.

During Construction

During construction the Town’s hired Contractor must ensure safe and accessible walkways where there is existing sidewalk, and driveways and entryways are maintained for everyone during construction. Any temporary access disruptions will be communicated as soon as possible. On-street parking will be limited due to construction work.
