Occasional Use On-Street Parking Permit System now available in Ajax

New online system allows residents to access permits 24/7

The Town has introduced a new, free Occasional Use On-Street Parking Permit System. Residents and visitors can obtain a 24 hour parking permit for residential streets at ajax.ca/parkingpermit or on the Town’s mobile app - AppJAX. For added convenience, permits will be issued electronically, and are automatically attached to the license plate, no print and display required.

The permit provides an exemption from the maximum 3 hour parking limit and allows vehicles to park on residential streets from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. Residents can obtain 12 permits a year per license plate, valid for 24 hours each. Multiple day and plate permits can be issued at one time for user convenience until maximum permits are met.

Permits will not be valid or issued during active snow events, which would include the day(s) before, during, or after a major event, when plowing and salting are taking place.

QUICK FACTS

Parking restrictions are still in place for the following areas:

  • Areas where on-street parking has been prohibited under the traffic bylaw.
  • All Regional roadways regardless of classification such as Taunton Rd., Westney Rd. North and South, Kingston Rd. East and West, Bayly St. East and West and Salem Rd. North and South.
  • Town’s Type B arterial roadways such as Church St., Rossland Rd., and Salem Rd. North of Taunton Rd.
  • It is the vehicle owner’s responsibility to park legally, as all others provisions of the Town parking bylaws will apply. (10 m from an intersection, 3 m from a fire hydrant, 1 m from a driveway, will still be enforced)
  • No commercial vehicles in residential neighbourhoods. This includes vehicles longer than 7 m and tow trucks; as these vehicles remain prohibited in residential areas regardless of whether or not a permit is obtained.
  • Areas identified as a fire route.
