This recognition celebrates the Town’s contributions toward making a more accessible and inclusive community for all ages and abilities

On January 18, 2026, the Town of Ajax was recognized as an Age-Friendly Community by the Ontario Government at the Rural Ontario Municipalities Association (ROMA) Conference.

An age-friendly community is one where people of all ages can live safely, stay healthy and feel connected. Ajax has made meaningful investments to support residents by:

  • Installing dedicated charging stations for personal mobility devices in all Town buildings.
  • Installing an accessible lift and transfer equipment in the Audley Recreation Centre change room.
  • Developing a comprehensive Community Resource Guide and Age-Friendly webpage to support better access to community supports and information.
  • Delivering more than 28 new free programs and workshops for older residents.
  • Aging Well Month is celebrated every June – Ajax recognizes the role that older adults play in our community all month long with various free activities.

Ajax continues to work toward making the town a more accessible and inclusive space for people of all ages and abilities.
