The Town of Ajax can provide extra staff or volunteers in recreation programs and/or camps to support children, youth, and adults with special needs in a low ratio. Inclusion staff support is free to Ajax residents.
Inclusion support
Recreation & Culture programs are open to all ability levels. You may need extra support if:
- Extra support is used at school
- Extra help is needed at home for basic care
- You have a physical, medical, behavioural and/or developmental disability that could affect your safety and fun at a program or that of another person
- You belong to a support service agency
The Town of Ajax has the right to remove you from a program if you cannot follow participant criteria. The Town of Ajax Refund Policy will apply.
How do I ask for inclusion support? |
You must sign up for a general interest recreation program or camp before you sign up for inclusion support. Register for one-to-one support using the barcode. If registering for the Playgrounds summer program, register first using the one-to-one support barcode and then contact the Community Recreation Supervisor of Inclusion Services at 905-619-2529, ext. 7259 or at inclusionservices@ajax.ca. For more information about one-to-one support barcodes, contact the Community Recreation Supervisor of Inclusion Services at 905-619-2529, ext. 7259 or at inclusionservices@ajax.ca. |
How much inclusion support can I have? |
You can request support for one general interest program per session, and up to three weeks of support in summer camps. A limited number of inclusion support spaces are open each session. Ajax will do its best to find support. It is not certain that an inclusion staff or volunteer will be available for the program that you request. |
How do I know if I got the inclusion support that I asked for? |
After you register in a one-to-one support barcode, the Inclusion Supervisor will reach out to you. If staff or volunteers are not available for the program you asked for, the Supervisor will let you know. All new families asking for one-to-one support must come to a meeting with the Community Recreation Supervisor of Inclusion Services to fill out an information form. The meeting will take an hour. |
What do I do if I do not want support anymore or I am going to be absent? |
If the participant of inclusion services is not in a program or camp anymore or will be absent, contact the Community Recreation Supervisor of Inclusion Services at 905-619-2529, ext. 7259 or at inclusionservices@ajax.ca. |
