Outdoor Skating - Pat Bayly Square (55 Bayly St. W.) 

Safely enjoy free outdoor skating (refrigerated ice surface) with family and friends Monday to Sunday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.! No pre-registration required.

Please Note: All skaters at Pat Bayly Square must maintain a physical distance of six feet to those not in their household at all times. The Town is strongly recommending that masks or cloth face coverings be worn on and off the ice surface and masks are mandatory while in the building. Indoor washroom access will be available, however, change rooms are closed and skaters should come ready to skate. 

Ice-making and maintenance are weather-dependent and mechanical issues could arise. Circumstances can make it a challenge to communicate well in advance, and are beyond our control. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Reminders
  • Only patrons who are in good health should skate.

  • Participants are encouraged to park in the north parking lot at the Ajax Community Centre (75 Centennial Rd.).
  • Helmets not required but highly recommended.
  • Inclement weather may result in cancellations or delays for snow clearing.
  • Skating is only permitted during scheduled hours.
  • Only certified skating aids are permitted on the ice. You must bring your own. The use of strollers, chairs or other non-certified skating aids is not allowed.
Rink Rules
  • Skating on the ice is done at your own risk.
  • Skate in the direction or flow of the other patrons.
  • Children 10 and under must be directly supervised by a parent/guardian 16 years of age or older.
  • Hockey/ringette is not permitted on the ice.
  • No one is permitted on the ice without skates.
  • Food & beverages are not permitted on the ice.
  • Smoking/vaping is prohibited.
  • No dogs or pets on the ice.
  • The Town of Ajax is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Please refrain from the following on the ice surface:
  • Tag, horseplay, spraying or throwing of snow/ice.
  • Backward, figure skating or speed skating
  • Use of strollers, chairs or other non-certified skating aids.
  • Carrying babies or children.
  • Use of hockey sticks, pucks, nets or other sporting equipment.
  • Entering the ice surface while it is being flooded.

Reminders

Reminders:

  • All skating programs will take place at the Ajax Community Centre (ACC).
  • Only patrons who are in good health should attend skating programs.
  • Proof of vaccination is required to enter Town of Ajax recreation facilities for all patrons 12 years and older.
  • Masks must be worn in Town of Ajax facilities, until you enter the ice surface.
  • Concessions are not available at this time.
  • Continue to be respectful of the arena staff and other patrons by practicing social and physical distancing, while in the facility and on the ice.

Public Skating

Weekday evening public skates begin Wednesday, November 10 and Friday, November 12. 
Look for weekend public skates to begin mid-January 2022.

A leisure skate for everyone.

Adult Skate

A leisure skate for adults aged 18 yrs and older. Unsupervised.

Parent & Tot Skate

Leisure skate for parents with children aged 5yrs and younger. Parents must accompany their children on the ice wearing skates.

Adult Shinny Hockey

A pay-as-you play program for adults 18yrs+. Two Goalies play for free. Referees not provided. Unsupervised.

Adult Stick & Puck

Practice the fundamentals of hockey, shooting, passing and stick handling. Unsupervised. Scrimmages and goalies not permitted.

Ladies Shinny Hockey

A pay-as you-play program for women 18yrs+. Two goalies play for free. Referees not provided. Unsupervised.

Adult Sledge Shinny Hockey

Sledge Hockey is an exciting sport for people with physical disabilities. The sledges can be specially adapted to meet the needs of each player. Sledges Available.

Ticket Ice

This is a pay-as-you-go program designed for figure skating practice only. You must be a Skate Canada member and accompanied by a Skate Canada Coach.

Fee for skaters is $10.97 (including tax) which can be paid at the Customer Service Desk. Admission is free for coaches accompanying their skaters but the coaches name and telephone number are required to complete the online registration process. Those wishing to purchase a 10-pass can call the Ajax Community Centre.

 Skate Memberships

The Town of Ajax offers skate memberships at an affordable price, including:

  • Use of Town of Ajax arenas during designated times - Ajax Community Centre and Village Arena (where applicable)
  • Includes unlimited Swimming during designated times at all 4 pools - Ajax Community Centre, McLean Community Centre, Audley Recreation Centre and Ajax Memorial Pool (outdoor - open from late June to early September)

Safety and Accessibility

For your safety, please do not skate on ponds and other open bodies of water in parks.

 

Public Skate, Adult Skate and Parent & Tot: Helmets not required but highly recommended. CSA approved skating aids are permitted.

 

Adult Shinny, Ladies Shinny and Adult Sledge Hockey: Full hockey equipment is required.

 

Adult Stick & Puck: CSA approved hockey helmet is required.
