Recreation Phase 1 Reopening Plan - Ice Rentals

The Town is taking a measured and cautious approach to reopening after COVID-19 mandatory closures. Since the announcement of Ontario's Stage 3 of reopening, we have been working diligently to determine an approach to reopen in a cautious and safe way. We want to ensure that we comply with the health and safety protocols advised by Durham Region Public Health.

Beginning September 14, three ice pads (Pads 3 & 4 at the Ajax Community Centre and Village Arena) will open for ice user groups and public skate.

New! Pre-registration online is required for all skating programs. Registration opens every Wednesday at 9 a.m. for the upcoming Friday - Thursday.

Please Note: Safety protocols have been developed for ice usage and align with the Durham Region Public Health Department.

Reminders:

  • All skating programs will take place at the Ajax Community Centre (ACC) Pad 4.
  • Only enter and exit ACC Pad 4 from the north parking lot.  Please leave one empty space in between cars in the parking lot
  • Only patrons who are in good health should register for a skating program
  • Non-medical masks/face coverings are required for entering and within the facility but can be removed while skating
  • Patrons must bring their own filled water bottle.  Water fountains will not be available
  • Gender neutral washrooms for urgent need will be available.  Limited to one person at a time and will be disinfected regularly.
    • Users must sanitize their hands outside the washroom before entering and wash hands thoroughly after use of the washroom
  • There are no in/out privileges
  • Spectators are not allowed in order to maintain facility capacities that align with Province of Ontario Stage 3 indoor gathering size requirements
  • Be respectful of the arena staff and other patrons by practicing social and physical distancing, while in the facility and on the ice

Some regular skating programs will be disrupted due to holidays, special events or programs.
