Ajax Council is a proud supporter of our 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. But like many other municipalities, we have been affected by the recent rise in discriminatory rhetoric and actions. This type of behaviour is unacceptable. As a Town and Council, we strongly believe there is no place for discrimination or hate in Ajax. I want to assure the 2SLGBTQIA+ community that we stand with you and for your right to acceptance and equality. This June, Ajax will mark Pride Month with events and actions intended to grow and build our broader understanding of the history and challenges the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities face daily. I warmly welcome Ajax residents to join us at one, or all of the following celebratory events:

  • Pride Month Flag Raising and Proclamation: Thursday, June 1, at 12:15 p.m. | Ajax Town Hall, Heritage Square 
  • Durham Pride Parade: Sunday, June 4, beginning at 1 p.m. | Downtown Ajax, followed by the Pride Celebration in Arbor Park at 2 p.m.
  • Drag Queen Storytime: Saturday, June 10, from 1 - 3 p.m. | Ajax Library Main Branch
  • Friday Night Live Presents Drag Bingo: Friday, June 23, 7 - 10 p.m. | St. Francis Centre
