Town cancels in-person summer recreation programs and camps

Due to COVID-19-related health and safety concerns, the Town has made the decision to cancel all in-person summer recreation programming and camps. The Town felt it was important to communicate this decision as soon as possible in order for users to make alternative summer programming plans.

In the meantime, the Town is investigating a range of virtual opportunities (i.e. leadership courses and certifications) to deliver programming online. Details on programming will be announced shortly.

At this time, all programs through to the end of August are impacted:

  • Summer camps
  • Playgrounds
  • Summer recreation programs, both drop-in and pre-registered formats, including:
    • Swimming lessons
    • Group fitness
    • 55+ programming

The Town continues to monitor the situation closely. If circumstances allow, the Town will review its ability to provide in-person programming.

  • The Town continues to monitor the COVID-19 landscape. Should the provincial orders and provincial and regional states of emergency be lifted, the Town will reconsider this cancellation
  •  Any program updates will be communicated via the Town’s corporate communications channels
