Town introduces new 2016 Ajax waterfront policies

The Ajax Waterfront has quickly become a popular summer destination in Durham Region. To enhance the Ajax Waterfront experience, the Town has approved new policies for 2016.

These policies cover matters such as special events and gatherings, barbeque usage, drones and rockets, parking and enforcement. The intent of the changes are to enhance and improve the user experience along the waterfront.

- Any group of 15 persons or more requires a permit.

- All BBQ events require a permit. Only propane fueled BBQs (up to a maximum tank size of 20 Ibs) with a stand are permitted. Charcoal BBQs are not permitted.

- Drones and rockets are not permitted.

- Parking is only permitted in designated parking lots along the waterfront.

- Dedicated Municipal Law Enforcement Officers will enforce on-street parking restrictions and the Town’s Park Bylaw along the waterfront between May 15 and October 15.

- Dedicated Security Guards will manage Rotary Park between May 15 and October 15.

- The Town will be collecting parking data throughout the summer in order to develop recommendations to further manage the demands along the waterfront.
